Alabama Law on Illegal Immigration Challenged

An Alabama law aimed at cracking down on illegal immigration usurps powers reserved for the federal government, a US Justice Department official has told a three-judge federal appeals court panel.

On November 23, 2011, USCIS announced that the H-1B visa quota for Fiscal Year 2012 was reached on November 22, 2011. See their website here. The next quota of 65,000 visas per year becomes available for application on April 1, 2012 for a work start date of October 1, 2012.
