F-1 Students Take Note – USCIS is taking a more restrictive approach to filing deadlines for F-1 Optional Practical Training (OPT) applications. To avoid an unexpected denial, the student must file the OPT application with USCIS within 30 days of the OPT recommendation in SEVIS or the DSO must cancel the original recommendation and enter a new one.
